Leprechaun 5: In The Hood (2000)

Leprechaun in the Hood is one of the worst movies in the genre. It has a very small budget, a bad plot with a lot of annoying stereotypes, and a few characters who are portrayed in a very bad way (most notably Fontaine). Even so, it still shows an almost unbelievable amount of heart.

They even exceed the Leprechaun himself in this edition, which is saying a lot given that the Leprechaun smokes cannabis with Ice-T. Postmaster P (Anthony Montgomery), Stray Bullet (Rashaan Nall), and Butch (Red Grant) are by far the series' greatest characters.

Their friendship is healthy because they demonstrate their love and understanding in public. Despite the fact that they are all independent, admirable people who stand firm.

Thanks to the excellent work of Montgomery, Nall, and Grant, this is possible (a genuine rarity in this franchise). I'd definitely be interested in watching (here) a film about their existence as struggling artists.

Rather than detract from the generally amusing antics of the Leprechaun series, their desire to perform it is a welcome touch that gives the usually flat characters a little of personality.
The finest scenes in the film are those between the guys as they attempt to pull themselves together and keep their dream alive.

What's even more shocking is that they have the funniest scenes! Because of Butch's church dance, his effort to sell an obviously fake Hendrix instrument, and a genuine Scooby-Doo reference, they had me laughing far more than Leprechaun had.

It is unsurprising that Leprechaun in the Hood is of poor quality in general.

What's surprising is how much Postmaster P, Stray Bullet, and Butch have to offer as characters. Yes, they are limited by the movie they are in, which is sad, but they all give incredibly real and emotional performances throughout, culminating in the most painful deaths in the series.

Leprechaun 5 isn't very valuable, but compared to other leprechaun, it's a diamond in the rough!
